On 30 October 2019, Potsdam was designated a UNESCO Creative City of Film and has since been a member city in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). As the city’s memory, we bring Potsdam’s history to life—from the Middle Ages to the present day.
The Potsdam Museum collects, preserves, and researches artworks, historical objects, and documents relating to the history and culture of the city from the Middle Ages to the present day. With more than 270,000 objects, as well as an extensive additional photographic collection, it houses one of Brandenburg’s largest collections dedicated to art, cultural history, and regional history. It was founded as early as 1909 by citizens of Potsdam.
